Sharjah إمارة الشارقةّ
Sharjah is third largest emirate of UAE
with an estimated population of 800,000. Sharjah
covers approximately 2,600 square
kilometers. In addition to Sharjah city,
which lies on the shores of the Arabian
Gulf, the emirate has three provinces on
the scenic east coast; Dibba Al Hisn,
Khor Fakkan and Kalba, plus the Islands
of Abu Mousa and Sir Abu Nu’air. Sharjah
is a close neighbor to Dubai (it’s just
a 15 minute drive from the centre of
Sharjah to Dubai International Airport).

The government of Sharjah recognises and
encourages the role of the private
sector in building a strong economy, and
welcomes foreign investment in various
manufacturing, trade and service
sectors.126 countries currently have
trade relations with Sharjah and the
emirate is vigorously pursuing a policy
of building closer economic relations
with other countries as well. As a key
player in the global investment
scenario, facilities have evolved and
been upgraded by the government to suit
the business climate and augment
efficiency.
Sharjah has established and stabilized
policies that foster continuing
development. The government of Sharjah
has developed the required platform to
place the emirate at the forefront of
industrialization in the UAE, by
implementing ambitious schemes. In
recent years, quality enhancement
measures have included the construction
of dedicated industrial areas.
Sharjah Tourism and Leisure

Sharjah Emirate offers the outdoor
adventurer the perfect weather for
hiking, camping and desert driving. In
the hotter summer months scuba diving
and dipping in a chilled pool can be a
cooler option. For those who like to put
their feet up and relax the beach and
health clubs, the beauty centres and
spas provide plenty of opportunities.
With the wide variety of malls and
amusement centres, museums and cinemas,
a good choice of indoor activates are
available throughout the year.
The Arabian Gulf coast offers safe,
white, sandy palm lined beaches with
clear blue seas and gently shelving
shores. The East Coast with its
impressively steep, rocky mountains has
beautiful bays lined with golden sandy
beaches and crystal clear waters.
Renowned for its water sports,
snorkelling, diving and relaxing, this
coast creates the ideal break for a
weekend, either camping on the beach or
staying in the motels and hotels that
line the coast.
